- Lot Description
Swiss, late 19th century. A double comb cylinder music box, the exterior with burl walnut and walnut veneer, inlaid satinwoods, decorative moldings, paint-enhanced marquetry to the lid, and painted instrument and floral decoration to the front, the lid interior with bird's eye maple, walnut veneer and inlaid decorative band, raised on four padded feet and with two brass handles. The lid opens to reveal a 19.5 inch cylinder with two combs, a song indicator and zither attachment, serial no. 59459; case ht. 10, wd. 38, dp. 16.25 in.
Provenance: Property from the Irene and Theodore Leverett CollectionPresently in excellent working condition. Some wear to painted decoration and veneer, including losses. The song list is not present. Cowan's does not guarantee the working condition of these items at the time of purchase.Condition
