- Lot Description
Printed poster, 19.75 x 30 in. Sunbeam / "The Silver Bullet" / Designed and Built specially for Kaye Don's attempt on the World's Land Speed Record. Wolverhampton: The Sunbeam Motor Car Co., Ltd., [1927].
At 31 feet, including the adjustable rare stabilizing fins, the "Silver Bullet" was built by Sunbeam in 1929 for Kaye Don to use in an attempt to break the world's land speed record. It was the longest car ever to appear on Daytona Beach. The race car's driving compartment was over the rear wheels and a pair of supercharged V-12 Sunbeam engines were mounted in tandem under the hood. Although Don expected to reach 250 mph, the "Silver Bullet" was badly balanced and only reached 190 mph. Toning of the paper, several folds, and some loss to the ink.
Good condition for age but with some minor low areas.
