- Lot Description
American, 19th century. An assembled group of five stoneware crocks with cobalt decorations including, one lidded crock with applied handles with S. PURDY impressed, one with tapered body and stenciled floral decoration, one water cooler with applied handles, hand-applied decoration, and tooled decoration at rim and upper body, one large crock with applied handles and hand-applied floral decoration above III, impressed 3 on rim, tooled decoration at rim and midsection, and one milk pan with cobalt stamped leaf decoration around body, applied handles, and tooled decoration at rim; tallest ht. 13.25 in.
Condition
S. Purdy crock has a chip in each handle and cracks on handle of lid from drying, crock with stenciled decoration has slightly deformed rim, water cooler crack from rim on front and back, bottom cracked, chips to rim, large crock crack from rim to mid body at right handle, crack from bottom at back, glaze worn on rim, milk pan has wear to glaze on rim and two chips to rim on either side of right handle.
