- Lot Description
Austria, ca. 1937-1938. A porcelain figure by Stefan Dakon and Josef Lorenzl for Goldscheider titled "Champagne" depicting a dancer on her toes holding her skirts out in both hands, with manufacturer's mark, Lorenzl, and 8 / 7826 / 61 / 16 on underside, and impressed faintly Dakon on top back of base; ht. 8.5, wd. 7.25, dp. 3 in.
Born in Vienna, Josef Lorenzl is recognized as the most important Goldscheider artist in the Art Deco period. He was active from the 1920s through the 1930s and designed many of Goldscheider’s most notable figures, including “Captured Bird.”
