- Lot Description
** Springfield Model 1903 USMC Sniping Rifle
.30-06 caliber, 24" star gauged barrel, S/N 1272120 . Parkerized finish, smooth walnut two-bolt "S" stock. Receiver marked in four lines above serial number: U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY / MODEL 1903 . No cartouche or [circle]-P inspection present. Barrel marked S.A./[flaming bomb]/3-26 behind front sight. Bolt, extractor and receiver rails polished bright. Bolt with last five digits of serial number, 27120 , applied with electric pencil. Receiver and barrel drilled and tapped for scope mounts, handguard appropriately modified for same. No mounts or scope present. Headless cocking piece. Grooved trigger, checkered buttplate with trapdoor for cleaning kit, which is not present. Rear sight graduated to 2,850 yards and marked " 27 ", with protective cover. Retains both sling swivels and stacking swivel.
Very good. Retains much of the Parkerized finish on the barrel and receiver. Markings in metal clear and crisp. Mechanically functional, very good bore, lightly frosted and needs to be cleaned. Stock with scattered bumps and dings.Condition
