Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Carbine
.45-70 caliber, 22" barrel with 1890 sight-protecting barrel band, S/N 379702 . Blued and color casehardened finish, smooth walnut stock. Standard Springfield trapdoor lock markings, 1884 breech block markings, standard barrel proofs. Clear SWP/1887 cartouche opposite lock and clear [circle]-P proof behind triggerguard. Clear script NJ cartouche forward of sling bar and block NJ on barrel. Low arch breech, 3-click tumbler, grooved trigger. Correct Buffington rear sight marked " C, " pinned blade front sight, sling bar and ring, trapdoor in butt with 3-piece cleaning rod and M1884 headless shell extractor. A solid, New Jersey marked M1884 carbine with the 1890 barrel band upgrade.
Good to very good. Retains some traces of blue on the barrel with a mottled plum brown patina. Breech block with traces of muted case colors. All markings clear, mechanically functional, fine bore. Stock with scattered bumps, dings and mars.Condition
