45-70 caliber, 22" barrel, S/N 187421* [star follows the serial number]. Large V/P and eagle. Lockplate marked U.S Springfield with eagle. Breechblock dated 1873 U.S. Model. Carbine rear barrel sight. Krag cleaning rods in the trap. Walnut stock. Star indicates assembly by Springfield Arsenal to be issued to militia.
Barrel retains most of the original blue finish with some wear around the muzzle. Lockplate retains some original blue finish. Trigger guard retains most of the blue finish. Breechblock retains some of the case colored finish. Stock has no finish and has been stripped. Bore is very good.
