- Lot Description
.22RF Short, 3.25" octagonal barrel, S/N 41612 (mfg. ca 1864). Blued barrel, silver-plated brass frame, varnished rosewood grips. Matching assembly numbers throughout, interior of right grip correctly numbered to the pistol. One-line Smith & Wesson barrel address and standard patent markings on cylinder. The first truly successful American cartridge revolver, the Smith & Wesson Model 1 is an essential part of any antique American firearms collection. Although more than 100,000 of these 1st Model, 2nd Issue revolvers were produced ca 1860-1868, they rarely appear in this kind of wonderful condition, especially those that were manufactured during the American Civil War.
Very fine. Retains most of the blued finish and silver plating on the frame, which is heavily tarnished and nearly black. Mechanically functional, good bore and fine grips with much of their original varnish. A really great condition little Model 1.Condition
