- Lot Description
Cabinet card with printed title and imprint of "Wm. Notman and Son, Montreal" on recto, and photographer's elaborate imprint with decorative border on verso. Ca 1885. A striking bust portrait of Sitting Bull, capturing the strong, stoic expression of the iconic Sioux chief and medicine man. William Notman had the opportunity to photograph Sitting Bull in various poses during his 1885 trip to Montreal with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.
Condition
Some scattered spotting to print. Light wear to mount corners. Light stain along top edge of mount, not impacting print. Image has yellowed a bit.
Two cruets replaced. One glass stopper replaced. Spoon is possible addition. Stand does not sit level.
