- Lot Description
.52 caliber, 22" barrel, S/N C25720. Blued, six-groove barrel with case hardened receiver; plain forend and grip. Iron furniture without patchbox. Blade front sight with V-notch ladder rear sight. Top of barrel forward of receiver marked "SHARPS RIFLE/MANUFG CO/HARTFORD CONN." with rear sight marked under ladder with three-line R.S. Lawrence patent dates. Model marked top of barrel forward of receiver. Lockplate marked with two-line Lawrence and two-line Sharps patents. Additional two-line Sharps patent marking on left side of receiver. No visible inspector cartouche on left side of wrist, but includes "DFC" inspector cartouche on left side of buttstock.
Fair. Nearly all of the original blued finish is missing with barrel and receiver taking on a pewter patina with spotted rust and darkening throughout. Markings are somewhat worn but legible. Cartouche is legible with stock showing various bumps and dings, but remaining in overall good condition. 1.25" section missing from right middle side of butt plate. Bore has pitting and some cratering throughout with worn rifling.Condition
