- Lot Description
.52 caliber, 30" round barrel, S/N 56764. Blued and case hardened finish, iron furniture, walnut stock and forend. Barrel marked NEW MODEL 1859, standard Sharps markings on receiver and lock plate. Original rear sight with Lawrence Patent marked base. Sling swivels, front sight provides lug for angular socket bayonet. Script AWM cartouche at wrist, second cartouche not legible. Forend inspected with block M.N.M. at frame.
Good to very good. Metal with a mottled oxidized dark gray and brown color over a lightly cleaned to pewter patina. Some pitting on receiver which has traces of case color. Light pitting on block and lever, and also scattered lightly along the barrel. Very good, bright bore with crisp rifling. Mechanically functional. Stock with dings, mars and wear, leaving one cartouche smeared and illegible and one weak but readable.Condition
