The Texian Advocate. Victoria, TX: John D. Logan and Thomas Sterne, June 21, 1850. Vol. 5, No. 8. 4pp, 17.25 x 22.5 in. Ink identified above masthead to the "Hon. Secy of State," who at that time was Daniel Webster, serving under President Millard Fillmore. Front page features an article "Statement of the Officers of the Expedition under Gen. Lopez," which details the failed effort of Venezuelan born Spanish soldier Narciso Lopez to liberate Cuba from Spanish rule with the help of sympathizers from the southern United States. Interesting details of the 1850 census are also included in the paper.
1850 issue: Paper is completely separated along the vertical fold. Very small amount of foxing and toning.
1851 issue: Newspaper is fully separated along vertical seam. Toned. Ink check marks appear alongside several items of interest in the paper including the Ford's Rangers story.
