Late 19th century. A scrimshawed walrus tusk with inscription By John McIntire A mark of esteem, with a clipper ship on one side, flanked by leafing branches and whaling tools such as harpoon, oar, spear, hooks and anchor on the other, all filled in with a dark resin, likely pitch; lg. 25.5 in.
