- Lot Description
Dutch, 17th or 18th century. Oil on canvas. Portrait of a man, unsigned. Framed; 26.25 x 21.25 in. (sight).
Provenance: Property from the Collection of Piatt Castles, West Liberty, OH, sold to benefit the Mac-A-Cheek Foundation for the Humanities
Condition
Relined, a few paint chips. Recent residue of wall paint (from when the painting was hung, most likely). Stabilized craquelure. Black light reveals small spots of in-painting throughout, suggesting the craquelure was filled at some point, as well as lines of in-painting along the edges.
