- Lot Description
.662 bore diameter, 10" flared octagonal barrel, patent breech, set trigger, safety on the lockplate, gold lined touch hole. Marked on top of the barrel in two lines H.W. Mortimer & Co London, Gun Maker To His Majesty. Marked on the lockplate under the pan H.W. Mortimer. Engraved lockplate with a border around the edges of the lockplate, hammer engraved with border and banknote-style scrolls. Frizzen engraved with a border. Barrel held to stock with wedges. Fancy walnut stock with checkered saw handle stock., empire-style butt with grooved border. Barrel finished in brown Damascus pattern, lock and breech is case colored. Triggerguard and ferules are are finished in blue. Wedges and frizzen spring are finished in a fire blue.
Barrel retains all of the original brown finish with just a little flaking around the touch hole area. Markings are mint and crisp. Lockplate hammer are just about mint retaining all of the original case colors. Breech plug retains all of the original case colors. Tang screw has never been turned; retains all of the original fire blue finish. Triggergaurd and ferules retain all of the original blue finish. This pistol is about as close to mint as you can find.Condition
