- Lot Description
Rookwood "Large Rook" Bookends
American (Cincinnati, Ohio), early 20th century. A pair of "Large Rook" or "Hawthorne Rooks" bookends in polychromed glazes, marks include the Rookwood logo, date mark for 1929 and shape number 2274C; ht. 6.5, wd. 6 in.Condition
One bookend with a small spot of residue or hardened tack (possibly from an old felt pad) on the underside near the spine of the book. Other bookend with some chips along bottom edge of back. Hairline on the book's endpaper near the Rook's head. Small firing crack on underside of base near Rook's tail feathers with a few small hairlines in same area.
