Silver gelatin real photo postcard, 3.5 x 5.5 in., showing a young American Indian soldier seated atop a Harley-Davidson motorcycle made for the US Military, ca late 1910s-1920s.
The relationship between the US Military and Harley-Davidson dates back to 1916, when the United States was involved in the border skirmishes with Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa. Harley-Davidson supplied US Army troops with motorcycles mounted with machine guns to aid in the engagements along the US-Mexico border. The company would go on to provide more than 50,000 motorcycles to the US Military during World War I and II.
