- Lot Description
Three-part badge from the Ohio chapter of the Minerva Society, a venerable women's organization created in 1825 by Frances Wright of New Harmony, Indiana. Devoted to equal rights for women, its primary goals were access to higher education and female suffrage. The top panel includes a paper insert identified to Gladine Miller; attached to red, white, and blue silk ribbon adorned with Ohio's official state flag; attached to cello disc, 1.75 in. dia., featuring portrait of Minerva, the Roman goddess of war, wisdom, and the arts and trades. Reverse marked "Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, NJ."

At the request of the buyer, Cowan's will authorize the shipment of purchased items. Shipments usually occur within two weeks after payment has been received. Shipment is generally made via UPS Ground service. Unless buyer gives special instructions, the shipping method shall be at the sole discretion of Cowan's Auctions, Inc..
