- Lot Description
.22 S/L/LR, 25" barrel with tubular magazine, no S/N. Blued finish, smooth, pistol-gripped walnut stock with plain forend. The Model 72, including factory-scoped rifles, was announced in March 1938 with deliveries starting in April. Six variations are listed in the 1939 price list with three rifle choices: peep rear sight, open rear sight, or no metallic sights, and two scope choices: 2.75-power or 5-power. Prices without the scope but with bases ranged from $14.10 to $15.15 depending on sights. While production numbers for factory-scoped Model 72s are not available, it appears that fewer were made than the factory-scoped Model 69s. This circa 1940/41 factory-scoped Model 72 is equipped with a 5-power scope and receiver peep sight.
**Requires C&R or FFLVery fine, retains nearly all of the blued finish with some scattered flecks of surface oxidation. Mechanically functional, fine, bright bore. Stock with light handling marks. Fairly clear optics that should be cleaned, scope body with some light handling marks.Condition
