- Lot Description
American, 20th century. A breakfast table in mixed woods by Chester Cornett (Kentucky, 1913-1981), now in two parts, having an octagonal two-board plywood top, and conforming frieze, on eight tapered legs; ht. 27, wd. 38, dp. 36.5 in.
This table was purchased directly from Chester Cornett by the consignor. Cornett gained notoriety in Kentucky and Ohio for his finely crafted furniture. He was primarily a chair maker who utilized traditional joint and peg construction. See Kentucky Folk Art Center, Chester Cornett: Beyond the Narrow Sky (2014).
Provenance: Property from the Collection of Dr. James and Betty Sutherland, Cincinnati, OHTable was separated at seam of top boards and put back together. A few small repairs.Condition
