- Lot Description
Lot of 2, featuring one of the last images of Abraham Lincoln, taken at Alexander Gardner's Washington, DC studio, on February 5, 1865. This was one of five poses captured during the final formal studio session Lincoln would ever sit for. With his son Tad beside him, the president appears to crack a slight smile. With verso credit to "Gardner, Photographer" and Philp & Solomons, Publishers, Washington, DC. Accompanied by commercially printed carte of Lincoln and Tad reading.
Both CDVs display deep, rich tones. Gardner CDV is in excellent condition, few light spots. Second carte with bottom corners clipped.Condition
