- Lot Description
Blended cotton and wool, 11 x 15.5 in., printed flag with 37 stars configured in a unique pattern, comprised of 25 stars arranged in an elongated diamond pattern at the center of the canton, flanked by 3 stars in each corner, which run parallel to the diamond. The fly consists of 13 printed stripes. Four small holes on the hoist end. Framed, 14 x 18.75 in.
Only five examples are known to exist of this highly desirable parade flag featuring an exceptionally rare diamond configuration, produced for the 1876 Centennial celebration. Possibly made specifically for the Centennial International Exposition in Philadelphia.
Even toning to flag. Stains along top left edge of fly and top right edge of canton. Some slight fraying along left and top edges.Condition
