Queen Anne Transitional Side Chairs
American (New England), 18th century. An assembled pair of Queen Anne transitional side chairs, one in mahogany and the other in walnut, each having a scrolled crest rail with carved ears above a pierced, owl's eye splat, an upholstered slip seat, and a straight apron, all rising on cabriole front legs ending in pad feet joined to the chamfered, raking rear legs by a block-and-turned box stretcher; largest oah. 38 in.
Not a matched pair. Some minor surface wear as would be expected with age and use. Some minor worming to rear seat rails. One chair with a repaired crack to splat, same chair with a couple of chips near bottoms of rear legs. Slip seats replaced.
SHIPPING. At the request of the buyer, Cowan's will authorize the shipment of purchased items. Shipments usually occur within two weeks after payment has been received. Shipment is generally made via UPS Ground service. Unless buyer gives special instructions, the shipping method shall be at the sole discretion of Cowan's Auctions, Inc..
