Queen Anne Chest-on-Frame
American (New England), 18th century. A Queen Anne chest-on-frame in maple with pine secondary, having a rectangular top with a molded cornice above a dovetailed case with five graduated and dovetailed drawers, the faces thumbmolded and fitted with brass pulls and escutcheons, all rising on a molded frame with a shaped apron and short cabriole legs ending in pad-on-disc feet; ht. 54.5, wd. 39.75, dp. 20.25 in.
Refinished with brasses possibly replaced. Three drawers with interior dividers. Several drawer lip repairs, with a small loss to thumbmolding on u.l. corner of bottom drawer. Small patch to cornice on the front, left corner. Some light age splits, mostly on the side panels of the case. Front left leg with a repaired break to foot while front right leg has a small patch near the lateral knee return. Back left leg with a repaired break while the back right leg has a couple of small repairs just above and on the knee. Structurally sound.
