32" blade. Blade has enhanced scenes of standing flags, E. Pluribus Unum in gilt, panoply of arms, with a 5" Civil War battle scene showing artillery with huge billows of gun smoke, mounted officers, exploding shells, wounded soldiers. The reverse side has with stacked arms and banners at the base with scroll work flanking an American Eagle with riband perched on a shield, and a large script intertwined US, also flanked by scroll work. All of the panels are deep relief etched and shadowed by gilt. Marked on the ricasso Clauberg and their trade mark. Pommel has a standing eagle with deep relief feathers on a helmet that is deep relief scroll work and three-dimensional liberty cap on the front, all in gilt finish. Solid cast gilt finish handle with deep relief work of a full standing Liberty. The reverse exhibits deep scroll work and shell designs with a separately affixed gilt brass panoply of arms on the center. Heavy cast brass and gilt guard with eagle and floral designs. Clam shell-style counter guard deep relief and gilt with red wool gasket. Steel scabbard uses a 1.375" scalloped and engraved throat. The upper and middle mounts exhibit intricately pierced scroll work, surrounding heads of mythological figures. The ring mounts are laurel leaves and berries. Very heavy lower mount featuring intricately pierced drag and separate affixed scroll work panel with a disk in the center. The reverse is heavily engraved with a fan like pattern. Between the top and middle band is the engraved inscription: Presented to Felix McCrea Adjutant of the 7th Ky. Cav the Friend the Patriot and the Soldier by the line officers of his Regiment Nashville, Tenn. Sept 27th 1863. Comes with complete records and provenance.
The hilt retains most of the original gilt finish. Handle retains most of the silver finish. The scabbard has been cleaned. The mounts still retain most of the original gilt finish.
