Prattware Pot Lids and Boxes
English, late 19th century. A group of ten prattware lids, six with wooden frames and two with accompanying trinket box bottoms. Scenes include (top to bottom, right to left), fishermen bringing in their catch, "Shakespeare's House Henley St. Stratford on Avon", "The Rivals", "The Master of the Hounds" (box), "High Life", "Low Life", "The Times" (box), a luncheoning party with ruins marked
JA, Giuseppe Garibaldi holding a flag, and "The Village Wedding"; (Garibaldi) dia. 6.25, dp. 1.5 in., (boxes) dia. 4, dp. 2 in.
Condition
Not removed from frames. All with crazing, "Shakespeare's House" has chips visible from verso including 2 on the edge not visible from the front while framed, "The Rivals" has 1/2 inch chip to front at edge, "Master of the Hounds" has 1 inch chip to underside of lid on lip, heavy crazing, "The Times" has 1/4 inch chip to edge and 1/4 inch chip to underside of lid on lip, luncheoning party with several small chips to underside on lip the largest spanning a 7/8 inch section, Garibaldi has 1/2 inch crack to frame, "The Village Wedding" has 1/2 inch chip to edge.
