- Lot Description
.50 caliber, 29" octagonal barrel, 1.100" across the flats, end of muzzle turned for a loader. Barrel has a rear notched sight, front blade. Double tang screw. Engraved forward action lock. Maple stock with two-piece brass patchbox. Brass buttplate and triggerguard. Cheek piece on the left side of the stock. Silver football-shaped piece inlaid on the cheek piece and marked in a cartouche A. Stalcup.
Nice plains-style rifle that shows use. The front of the forearm is almost worn into the barrel and some of the wood missing from wear. Barrel has a dark brown patina. Lockplate also with a dark patina, clean a little under the percussion drum. Brass with dark patina. Stock is good.Condition
