Four photo albums with "Indian Memories. F.H. Barber, 5th East Surrey Regt." on front pastedown. Vol. 1 is obl. 9 x 11 in., brown cloth with "Photographs" and publisher's device in gilt on front, beveled boards. Vol. 2 is 6.25 x 9.5 in., green cloth, same gilt device and beveled boards. Vol. 3 is also 6.25 x 9.5 in., brown cloth with same gilt device and beveled boards. Vol. 5 (?) is just over 8 x 10 in., brown cloth, same gilt device on front and beveled boards. Vol. 1 - 96 photos, most just over 3 x 5 in., but not removed from the pages. A couple are a bit smaller. Vol. 2 - 95 photos, most at least 3 x 4 in. These are divided geographically: Charial, Peshawar, Nowshera, Manki, Jaipur, Delhi, Agra. A lot of interesting architecture (including the Taj Mahal). Vol. 3 - 95 images, most apparently from around Manki. Last of this group - 59 images in the larger format like the first volume. These have more people in them than the earlier architectural focus. They also often contrast Hindu and Muslim in India. He shows shops of various kinds, from jewelers to pottery, various streets in the cities, but also sights in the countryside. There are a few forts included, one of which is a Peshawar fort. There are also camel caravans from Kabul and several views of the Khyber pass.
Another album has similar white ink labels to the group above, although it does not have Mr. Barber's identification. 9.5 x 12 in., soft "leatherette" covers, "Photographs" in gilt on front. There are 61 images affixed to the pages and 17 loose. These range from 1.5 x 2.5 in. to 8 x 10.5 in. The first group seems to be from a sports contest between military units, including New Zealanders (who perform a Maori Haka/War Dance) and Australians. Enclosed program indicates this is the Annual Sports at The Stadium, Shroncliffe, August 25th, 1920. According to said program, events include a pillow fight and a potato race, in addition to more traditional dashes, jumps and tug-of-war. Some of the last pages are labeled "Prints from set of films taken off the body of a dead German officer in France. 1917."
