- Lot Description
Royal American Magazine. Boston: Greenleaf's Printing Office, October 1774. 5.125 x 8.125 in. 24pp, numbered 363-386. Revere engraving has been taken out and displayed separately; engraving on laid paper, plate impression 4.5 x 7 in.
An outstanding political cartoon by the American patriot Paul Revere, commenting on the Quebec Act.
Engraving is titled The Mitred Minuet, Engraved for Royal American Magazine, Vol. I, No. XV, with credit to P. Revere at lower right, and shows four Anglican bishops dancing hand-in-hand around a draft of the "Quebec Bill" while Lord Bute, Lord North, another lord, and the devil direct them.
All original Paul Revere engravings are now rare on the marketplace.
Item is in good condition. Item may have been a part of a dining table at original state. Warping to wood and small veneer loss throughout.Condition
