.69 caliber, 39.25" rifled round barrel proofed on the breech with three leaf rear sight. S/N 2499 / P stamped on the tang and repeated on the trigger guard. Re-used M1816 lockplate marked " US / M.T. WICKHAM " and " P.S. JUSTICE / PHILAD a ", action functions properly. Three band walnut stock with brass furniture including the double curved trigger guard and two piece patch box. Complete with iron tulip tip ramrod.
Very good to fine, retains much original brown mixed with a chocolate age patina, with scattered light surface oxidation. Very good bore, front sight replaced, original rear sight present. Wood about fine overall with some light scuffs and mars, but very crisp. A tremendously better example of these historically important early Civil War contract muskets than is typically encountered on the market today.
