American (Ohio), early 19th century. A Sheraton bowfront chest of drawers in tiger maple and cherry having a shaped top with reeded edge over four dovetailed drawers, each cockbeaded, with maple escutcheons and brass pulls, all flanked by straight stiles and paneled sides, and rising on short turned legs; ht. 41, wd. 40.25, dp. 21.5 in.
Some minor surface and edge wear as would be expected with age and use. Some age splits to top and left side panel. Top with some stains. Case interior and drawer sides/bottoms with mildew. Front right foot with a small repair and rear right foot with a small chip. Bottom of case fitted with a wire screen probably to act as a type of dustboard. Corners of drawer dividers applied with small plastic pieces for easier sliding.
SHIPPING. At the request of the buyer, Cowan's will authorize the shipment of purchased items. Shipments usually occur within two weeks after payment has been received. Shipment is generally made via UPS Ground service. Unless buyer gives special instructions, the shipping method shall be at the sole discretion of Cowan's Auctions, Inc..
