Lot Description

American (Ohio), ca 1858. An embroidered memorial on linen in black thread, depicting a mourning woman in a churchyard, the gravestone reading Thomas Hunt / Born March 13th 1787 / Died Sept. 15th 1858 / Aged 71 years / 6 months and / 2 days. Housed in a wooden frame; 17 x 20.25 in. (sight).

A Thomas Hunt with these life dates has a gravestone in Hamilton, Ohio.

Provenance: Property from the Collection of Dr. James and Betty Sutherland, Cincinnati, OH

Condition

Linen is dirty and very dark.
