- Lot Description
American (Eastern Ohio), mid-19th century. A candlestand in poplar, with a square top, baluster shaft, and a rectangular base with snake feet. Retaining its original paint with a grungy surface; ht. 27.25 in.
An old note on the underside of the top attributes this stand to Muskingum County. It also relates to stands produced in Zoar. See Snyder, Snyder and Goudy, Zoar Furniture 1817-1898: A Preliminary Study, plate 111.
Provenance: Property from the Collection of Dr. James and Betty Sutherland, Cincinnati, OHOne foot has been expertly reattached.Condition
