- Lot Description
Japanese, ca. 1950s. A set of fifty-one pieces of Kutani porcelain by various makers with moriage dragon design in gray, blue, and yellow, including:
eight bread plates, seven tea saucers, four teacups, one small oval handled serving plate, and one smaller and one larger teapot, marked for Takito; larger teapot ht. 7.25, wd. 9. dp. 5 in.;
two teacups, one lemon plate, one unusually shaped small pitcher, marked for Nippon; pitcher ht. 5.75, wd. 4.5, dp. 1.5 in.;
one larger sake keg decanter and one vase marked for Moriyama Mori; decanter ht. 7.75, wd. 8, dp. 5.5 in.;
one smaller sake keg decanter marked for Hinode; ht. 8, wd. 6.75, dp. 4.5 in.;
two sake cups, one miniature teapot, two miniature saucers, three miniature teacups, and one covered handled jar, marked JAPAN or Made in Japan; jar ht. 6.25, wd. 6.5, dp. 5 in.;
one ovoid handled vase, one teacup, two sake cups, two miniature covered sugars, two miniature saucers, one miniature teacup, two small handled vases, one serving plate, and one miniature rectangular plate, unmarked; ovoid vase ht. 7, wd. 5, dp. 3.75 in.;
and one lemon plate, for unknown maker; dia. 6.25 in.
One teacup has been broken and repaired. Two chips to one miniature saucer. One miniature teacup missing handle, and other has chips to lip and hairline crack. Tall handled jar has piece of moriage missing on one handle. One saucer's dragon is missing its moriage eye, and another saucer is missing moriage top of dragon's head. One miniature saucer has a sticker on face from previous owner. Other wear, crazing, and light paint loss due to age and use.Condition
