Included is a note: Sioux Knife Sheath of Buffalo, Beads, Cones. From collection of Walter Cooper (1843-1924). He collected the piece around 1876. We purchased the piece from his granddaughter in mid July '83. Walter Cooper had a trading Post in the Bozeman (Galatin) Valley and was well acquainted with several of the northern tribes. Mentioned in book "The Tough Trip through Paradise".
