- Lot Description
Printed broadside, approx. 5.5 x 18.5 in., promoting the many wonders and curiosities on display at the New York Museum of Anatomy. New York: Metropolitan Print, n.d., ca late 1860s. In addition to "galvanic batteries" and "newly invented spirometers," the venue housed over 20,000 "objects of wonder," ranging from the Washington Twins comprised of one body, two legs, and four arms, hermaphrodites, the Horned Man, and the "World-renowned 'Venus,'" described as the "Ne Plus Ultra of Feminine Beauty."
Condition
Folds in broadside, some areas of separation at folds. Some chipping, short tears along edges. Some stains/spotting, including 4 circular stains extending from top to bottom of broadside.
