Lot of 10 CDVs, most of identified New Hampshire soldiers, including: uncredited portrait of Asa O. Carr posed with his kepi adorned "12 NHV / F" and bugle insignia. Carr served with Co. F of the 12th New Hampshire Volunteers, mustering in September 1862 as a private; WIA Gettysburg July 2, 1863 (musket ball through body and lung); discharged for disability in January 1864.
Lt. Charles Wilkins, autographed on verso and dated "December 8, 1862, Corinth, Miss." After serving with Co. B of the 2nd NH from June 1861-February 1862, Wilkins was commissioned into the US Army 1st Infantry; promoted to captain by brevet in June 1863; WIA Vicksburg May 25, 1863 and died of wounds on June 20, 1863.
Uncredited CDV of Chaplain Thomas L. Ambrose, possibly signed in his hand. After enlisting as a chaplain in September 1862, Ambrose was commissioned into Field and Staff, 12th NH Infantry; POW Chancellorsville, VA May 3, 1863 and later paroled; severely wounded in right leg, which was amputated, Petersburg, VA July 24, 1864, and died of wounds August 19, 1864.
Studio view believed to be James Franklin Rendlett as a 2nd lieutenant, wearing a black mourning ribbon on his sleeve, with D.A. Simons, Manchester, NH backmark. Enlisted as a captain in July 1861 and commissioned into Co. F, 3rd NH Infantry; promoted to major April 1864; severely WIA Drewry's Bluff, VA May 13, 1864; promoted to lt. colonel October 1864; after mustering out in July 1865, he had subsequent service in the US Army from June 1867 to December 1896.
