- Lot Description
American, 1950s. An early George Nakashima (1905-1990) walnut sideboard with dovetailed sides and two sliding doors concealing three drawers on one side and two adjustable shelves on the other, raised on two horizontal supports; ht. 32, wd. 60, dp. 20 in.
The sideboard is accompanied by a copy of the receipt of purchase on Nakashima stationary. The piece was purchased by the consignor's parents in 1957 for $255 and referred to as a dark walnut sliding door chest. The book The Soul of a Tree: A Woodworker's Reflections by George Nakashima, 1981, is also included in this lot.
