- Lot Description
** Model 1899 Springfield Krag Carbine
.30-40 Krag caliber, 22" barrel, S/N 359725 . Blued and case hardened finish, smooth, straight-gripped, finger-grooved walnut stock with single barrel band and sight-protector handguard. Receiver marked: MODEL 1899, U.S./SPRINGFIELD and with serial number. Clear 1901 dated script JSA cartouche at wrist with clear [circle]-P proof behind triggerguard. 1901 pattern rear sight graduated to 23 and with left wall of base correctly marked " C ". Knurled, mushroom-shaped cocking knob, no sling bar, smooth buttplate with trapdoor for cleaning rods which are not present.
Very good. Retains some thinning blue mixed with a plum patina on the metal with some lightly oxidized discoloration and some minor freckled pinpricking. Markings clear throughout. Mechanically functional, good bore with some frosting and lightly oxidized pinpricking. Stock with some scattered bumps, dings and minor mars and a small chip missing from the sight protecting hump on the reverse of the handguard.Condition
