- Lot Description
.45-70, 32.125" round barrel, secured by two barrel bands, S/N 16248. Blued finish, iron furniture, walnut stock. Standard Sharps Rifle Company and Old Reliable markings on barrel, with Borchardt and Sharps markings on reverse of receiver. US M-1884 Buffington rifle rear sight, front sight/bayonet lug, cleaning rod, sling swivels. Includes incorrect pattern US socket bayonet that is too large for the barrel.
Good overall. Barrel retains some blue, mixed with a splotchy oxidized patina. Receiver a mottled brown and gray color. Mechanically functional, with a fair bore that is very dirty and appears pitted but might clean to better. Stock worn with a couple of minor grain cracks behind the receiver and tang. Stock and forend with handling bumps and dings. Bayonet fair with an oxidized patina and pitting, and appears to be a modified US 1873 bayonet that has had the socket ground out.Condition
