.45-70 caliber, 20.5" round barrel with adjustable sight and proof marks, S/N 177557 followed by a star indicating a weapon assembled from parts at the arsenal. Breech door marked "U.S. / MODEL / 1873." Lockplated stamped with an eagle and "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / 1873." Walnut stock has an 1882 dated cartouche on the wrist. Retains the three-piece cleaning rod in the buttstock and the saddle ring.
Very good. Bore good with slight scattered pitting. Finish has good traces of blue a case color finish now aging gray.
