- Lot Description
Model 1861 U.S. Percussion Rifle-Musket by Bridesburg
.58 caliber, 40" barrel length, no S/N. Marking on side lock 1863 in front of hammer. Behind hammer marked US over Bridesburg. Top of barrel near breech is marked V over P over eagle head. Cartouche is on left side opposite of lock. Three barrel bands with clean-out screw on bolster. Tulip head-shaped ramrod. Walnut stock.Condition
The barrel has a pleasant plum patina throughout. The barrel bands have a plum patina that blends well with the barrel. The lock, hammer, trigger and triggerguard all have a fine pitting that is blending to a patina. The markings are good with a legible cartouche. The stock is missing a piece of wood near the hammer. The rest of the stock has nicks and dings. The midpoint between the 2nd and 3rd barrel band has a crack in the stock. Missing front sight. Bore is pitted.
