.69 caliber, 42" round barrel. Rear of barrel marked US JC P in oval on the left side at breech. To the left of the markings is a "4." Tang is dated 1827. Lockplate marked in the front of hammer U.S. P&E.W. Blake; in the rear in an oval New Haven and dated 1827. Bolster-style conversion with flat-style hammer. Walnut stock with barrel bands.
Barrel is smooth with brown patina. Pitting around the percussion bolster and spreading up onto the barrel. Lockplate is nice and crisp with a mottled grey appearance. Triggerguard, buttplate and barrel bands have been lightly cleaned. Stock is excellent with few nicks and dings, a mint cartouche of "JC" in an oval. Nice open-grained wood.
