- Lot Description
Mid-19th century. Swallowtail style coat with blue wool construction faced with silver ribbon. Front features twenty-seven .75" W.H Horstman marked silver plated federal eagle block "I" buttons with six of same on cuff facings. Functional cuffs held closed with three .62" buttons each. Rear of jacket features ten .75" buttons. Collars features one 1.75" silver bullion and sequin star each. Silver bullion epaulets attached by silver ribbon and silk laces with reinforced holes in collar for attachment.
Sleeves measure approx. 27.5" from shoulder seam and approx. 14.25" from right to left shoulder seam.
Provenance: General James A. Ekin FamilyGood. Color is a deep blue with very little fading and very little evidence of insect damage. Silver ribbon is slight loose and fraying in some places. Tarnishing of buttons present throughout. Metal somewhat loose on epaulets.Additional condition information available upon request.Condition

At the request of the buyer, Cowan's will authorize the shipment of purchased items. Shipments usually occur within two weeks after payment has been received.
