- Lot Description
.75 caliber, 37.125" octagonal-to-round keyed barrel with hooked breech and baluster turned rings at the transition. Browned finish, beech two-piece stock with forend take down via removal of keys and checkered wrist. Brass furniture. Semi-banana-shaped, long sear lock is unmarked with a fenced and bridled integral iron pan and a rounded swan neck cock. Bayonet lug near muzzle. Is accompanied by an unrelated and unmarked British pattern socketed saber bayonet of the India Troops Sappers & Miners style, ca 1830s-40s.
Good. Metal with a pleasing brown patina and some scattered light pinpricking. Lock functional, bore good but dirty. Stock good with repairs around the bottom of the lock mortise, and showing numerous bumps and dings. Two-piece, paratrooper-style stock, intriguing on this musket.Condition
