- Lot Description
Swiss, 19th century. A twelve-tune cylinder music box by Mermod Freres, serial no. 72932, featuring a 13.5 inch cylinder, a song indicator with a change and repeat switch, zither attachment and Jacot's Patented Safety Check. The original song sheet is on the interior of the hinged lid. The painted rosewood box has a floral inlay to the top of the lid, includes crank; ht. 7, wd. 26.5, dp. 10.5 in.
Provenance: Property from the Irene and Theodore Leverett CollectionPresently in excellent working condition with a rich tone and smooth movement. The paint has some small areas of loss, and the veneer has an area of cracking on the lid.Condition
