Paris: 1715. 3 Parts bound together -- 10 1/2 by 8 inches and 3 1/2 inches thick - in contemporary vellum with a faded manuscript title to the spine. Wood engraved illustrations throughout the text. "Mauriceau, a parisian, was an ordinary surgeon and not a doctor of medicine, but his close observation and detailed studies of the fetus, the pregnant uterus, the female pelvis and the techniques of delivery made him a leading obstetrician of his time. The present work is a compendium of seven hundred case histories dealing with pregnancy and childbirth as well as with the diseases and problems of the newborn.
