FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, with the text translated from Haller's Icones Anatomicae ([1743]-56), substantially revised by Warren, and with woodcuts engraved by Josiah Foster Flagg (1788-1853), a dentist and noted American anatomical illustrator. A very early example of an American medical book with hand-colored plates. Warren was a founder of the New England Journal of Medicine and the third president of the American Medical Association.
