crated in the Spanish Colonial style; with high polish and three settings for candles; pierced through at top for attachment; signed, length 13.25 in. x width 9.5 in.

A similar sconce is published by Mary Ellen and Laurence Blair and noted to have been made by Geronimo Tafoya, Margaret's father. The published example is unsigned, obtained by Mrs. Grammer from the maker. Pieces similar to this, made by Sara Fina or Margaret Tafoya, have been located in other collection. A difficult shape to form and fire because it is made from five separate clay pieces which are joined together while still plastic (1986: 46, fig. 2-6).c.f. Blair, Mary Ellen and Laurence.
