Lot of 16, featuring Maori Studies, 8.75 x 10.75 in. oblong heavy paper covers with string tie on spine. Contains 18 prints, approx. 5.5 x 7.5 in., tissue guards between images. Plus one approx. 3 in. diameter image affixed to front (also appears to be two women greeting - as is first image in book). Some are identified in the negatives as "Photo by Denton." Likely Frank J. Denton (1869-1963), born in Wellington, worked in Wanganui after he purchased the photography business of Alfred Martin there in 1899. Titles include:

Accompanied by 15 dry plate negatives, each approx. 4.75 x 6.5 in., housed in two original boxes, one box with a typed letter from the Auckland Savings Bank, dated June 9, 1922, describing the subject matter of a portion of the glass plates, which ranges from a "Maori war canoe" to a "skeleton and restored figure of a Moa." The negatives also include several scenic views of New Zealand.
